First Look: Filly Brown at Sundance

The upcoming film “Filly Brown” directed by Youssef Delara and Michael D. Olmos (son of Edward J. Olmos)  is one of the latest projects for new comer Gina Rodriguez and the loved singer now actress Jenni Rivera.

At the Sundance Film Festival,  originally founded by Robert Redford in the mountains of Sundance, Utah, the Sundance Institute has always provided a space for independent artists to explore their stories free from commercial and political pressures. Filly Brown is one of these latest creations promoted at the festival this year. It is a “ portrait of an artist forced to discover her authentic voice, Filly Brown percolates with the raw energy of hope sprung from desperation. ”

With an incredible cast like Edward James Olmos, Lou Diamond Phillip , Baby Bash and the loved Jenni Rivera this latest film brings great interest to my ears. Although I am not a big fan of rap, the subject of family and the fight for success wants me to go and see this movie. Here’s a quick view of this film:
