In today’s society, the numbers of human population keeps increasing and so does the percentage of thefts around the world. I have experience a few of my own but have also prevented many as well by protecting myself.
Many have come to me for advise or have mentioned a few instances on how people steal their identity through various illegal actions. Some of the most common scams that the FBI investigates are: identify theft, health care fraud/health insurance fraud, internet fraud and more. Here are a few tips provided by the FBI to help prevent you from being victimized.
Tips for Avoiding Fraud from the FBI:
* Don’t pay for a “free prize.” If a caller tells you the payment is for taxes, he or she is violating federal law,
* Never respond to an offer you don’t understand thoroughly,
* Be aware that your personal information is often brokered to telemarketers through third parties. Obtain a salesperson’s name, business identity, telephone number, street address, mailing address, and business license number before you transact business. Some con artists give out false names, telephone numbers, addresses, and business license numbers. Verify the accuracy of these items.
